Job Title: Nurse Manager, Emergency Department
Job Specialty: Nursing Administration

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00
Experience: Minimum of five years in nursing management and/or supervisory role in the Emergency Department
License: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, & PALS
Must-Have: Experience in emergency department management

Job Description:

- Assume 24-hour responsibility for overall assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Provide oversight and direction for the emergency department, and accountability for planning, directing, leading, and evaluating nursing care within the department.
- Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with all healthcare team members.
- Ensure adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs and develop long-term unit staffing schedules.
- Develop measures and monitor unit operational performance metrics such as agency and overtime costs, vacancy and turnover rates.
- Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees within the department.
- Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED and trauma patients.
- Handle patient, physician, and staff complaints/concerns with professionalism and work towards resolution.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to establish nursing care standards and evaluate staff compliance.
- Maintain a safe and conducive patient environment for health teaching and maintenance.
- Conduct monthly meetings with staff to address performance metrics, equipment, scheduling, goals, and objectives.
- Educate and evaluate staff in new and existing department procedures and systems.
- Participate in the overall planning process for the service.
- Demonstrate leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, and effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
