Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes - Functional Area Leader

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Controller, they will oversee the daily operations of the company's accounting, financial and administrative departments. This role will oversee about 3 staff members and be responsible for the company's financial policies, programs and practices. Strategic vision, ability to work in ambiguity and development and adoption of best practices will be important for this role.

Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Accounting Department, maintaining cash flow and budget for the company, P&L and cost analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Assist and participate in the accounting department, maintaining cash flow and budget for the company, P&L and cost analysis.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Provides direct supervision to one or more employees.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, insurance, cash management, and participate in the corporate strategic planning process.
  • Prepare reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
  • Direct preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Prepares and maintains month end financial analysis packages.
  • Individual directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. Prepares covenant compliance reporting package ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepares and maintains the Company's financial policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of financial summaries for management review. Risk Management.
  • Co-ordination of business planning and budgeting; ongoing forecasting and projections. General performance reporting and operational performance measurement.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills or Abilities:
  • Competence to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret Advanced computer skills in word processing software, spreadsheet software, accounting software and inventory software required.
  • General business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present

Physical Requirements:
  • Requires predominately sedentary work such as sitting at a desk and computer for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Work is performed in an office setting with limited exposure to loud noises, odors, extreme variances in temperature or other environmental factors.
  • Requires occasional exposure in the manufacturing plant to irritants such as loud noises, fumes, exhaust, or other environmental factors.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or business administration is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 1-3-years' experience of accounting with strong GAAP understanding, preference to those that have worked in an unionized environment and/or manufacturing.


Pay and Benefits:
  • Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year base. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus.
