Job Title: Staff Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Hematology/Oncology, Chemotherapy, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Graft vs. Host Disease (GVHD) complications
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3rd shift, 12-hour nights, float as needed
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified
License: Current Registered Nurse License valid in Wisconsin or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state
Certifications:
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA-approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire
Must-Have:
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice
- Nursing education from an accredited School of Nursing eligible for licensure
- Enrollment in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program required for non-BSN nurses with less than one year of licensed RN experience, with acceptance into a program expected within 15 months of hire
Job Description:
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health and/or the situation
- Analyze assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues
- Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation
- Develop a plan with strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
- Implement the identified plan and evaluate progress toward outcomes
- Integrate evidence and research findings into practice
- Participate in the formulation of evidence-based practice through research
- Contribute to a quality nursing practice using creativity and innovation to improve care delivery
- Use benchmarks to monitor the quality, safety, and effectiveness of nursing practice
- Participate on and/or lead interprofessional teams to evaluate clinical care or health services
- Respond to patient call lights/needs in a timely manner and utilize appropriate resources for safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services
- Assess patient care needs and delegate care elements to appropriate healthcare workers
- Advocate for resources, including technology, to enhance nursing practice and promote positive interactions between patients, care providers, and technology
- Work collaboratively with hospital leaders to effectively manage patient flow
- Promote an environmentally safe and healthy practice environment
- Communicate environmental health risks and exposure reduction strategies to patients, families, colleagues, and communities
- Utilize scientific evidence to assess products or treatments for environmental threats and participate in strategies to promote healthy communities
- Assess and improve own communication skills in encounters with patients, families, and colleagues
