The Failure Analysis Team's mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve Tesla's products in collaboration with a large cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of Vehicle and Energy systems including the existing fleet and new products under development. This is a high-visibility, individual contributor role that requires extensive hands-on failure analysis of electronic components.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, fast-learning individual who will work closely with experienced engineers on analyzing, root causing, and reporting on electronic component issues involving systems such as infotainment, low voltage, power electronics, and battery systems among others.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize various analytical tools to perform non-destructive inspection of incoming components
  • Perform sample preparation such as component isolation, cross sectioning, delayering, etc.
  • Perform basic bench verification and electrical debug using standard bench equipment (Power supply, curve tracer, multimeter)
  • Document and clearly communicate findings via verbal and written reports


Requirements
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor components and electrical systems
  • Hands on experience with semiconductor/IC sample preparation
  • Experience using basic electrical bench equipment such as power supplies, curve tracers, multitracers, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in fundamental computer skills
  • SEM and/or FIB experience a strong plus
  • Degree in Material Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in semiconductor/IC analysis a strong plus

      $28.80 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
