Position Overview:

The Director, Digital Operations will lead and oversee all Digital Operations within the airline, ensuring that key business platforms and systems operate efficiently, securely, and effectively support business growth. This role requires a forward-thinking leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment. This role is instrumental in driving digital transformation strategy as a competitive advantage for the airline by enabling seamless operations across various departments, including Airport and Flight Operations, Pricing and Revenue Management, Network Planning, Security, and beyond.

This leader will own the relationships of systems and platforms that support the airline, including PSS, DCS, EFB, navigation & crew systems, among others. By leading a team of Product and technical project managers, system administrators, and business analysts, this leader will be the owner of managing vendor relationships as well as the system and platform roadmaps to support airline objectives. The leader will prioritize features on the roadmap, including upgrades and maintenance. The Director of Digital Operations supports the business by partnering very closely with Product teams, Software Engineering, and Data teams to maintain business continuity and drive enhancements that deliver value to the business. The ideal candidate has extensive IT experience in the travel sector (preferably airlines) and a strong track record in managing complex IT infrastructure, system operations, and large-scale digital initiatives.

Primary Job Functions:
  • Manage multiple complex projects, balancing short-term operational demands with long-term IT strategy.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for digital platforms and systems, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure IT systems support operational efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
  • Oversee the stability, security, and performance of the airline's IT and digital platforms.
  • Prioritize system enhancements, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee incident response, risk management, and IT/digital platforms governance.
  • Lead a diverse team of IT professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure service excellence and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee change management and risk mitigation strategies for IT projects, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational disruptions.
  • Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to the team.
  • Drive continuous improvements in system reliability and performance.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to support business-as-usual (BAU) operations and new business initiatives.
  • Ensure digital services enhance user experience and business outcomes.
  • Develop and execute IT strategies that align with business objectives
  • Oversee the development, deployment, and optimization of enterprise data platforms and analytics solutions.
  • Define best practices for data management, governance, and accessibility to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
    • Extensive experience in managing large-scale technology operations, digital product development, and data analytics initiatives is a plus
    • Proven track record in setting and executing IT strategies that align with overall business goals and objectives.
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms, cybersecurity best practices, and IT service management frameworks.
    • Strong experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior leadership to define and drive the digital roadmap.
    • Hands-on experience with leading data analytics platforms and systems, ensuring they deliver actionable insights that drive business decisions.
    • Demonstrated success in overseeing the implementation and optimization of IT infrastructure,
    • Experience in managing budgets, timelines, and resources for IT operations and digital product initiatives.
    • Background in managing change management processes, with the ability to lead IT teams through periods of growth, transformation, or innovation.

    • Strong ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources for IT and digital initiatives.
    • Ability to drive digital transformation while ensuring organization-wide adoption.
