Description:
Reports directly to the Director, Risk Control Services. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant will apply risk management techniques in the selection, management and retention of clients. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant will focus on evaluating client exposures and controls and developing plans to improve client performance. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant will participate in a team environment, while carrying out individual service management responsibilities. A greater portion of the Strategic Risk Control Consultant workload will include more complex, multi-location/state, and multi-coverage line clients. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant effectively and consistently manages and delivers risk control services for large clients through the department's advanced consulting strategies and is comfortable designing and managing the delivery of Risk Control services following a defined service plan. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant integrates multiple services into planning. The Strategic Risk Control Consultant can be assigned regional and corporate projects at the direction of the Director, Risk Control Services including supporting regional marketing efforts and educating agents and brokers about Risk Control capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Evaluate existing and prospective clients through the risk management assessment for all business segments and lines of insurance coverage that may include workers compensation, commercial auto, general liability, and property
Plan, coordinate and deliver consultative services based on client's actual and potential loss exposures and meet the department service management guidelines
Work closely with Underwriting and Claims to service accounts and actively participate in the account management process
Use analytics to support plans and recommendations, and to help show correlation of the service strategy to client improvement through the stewardship process
Deliver effective presentations to all levels of an organization on an individual basis or as part of a team
Manage a workload weighted towards large and multi-location insured clients, captive, and larger accounts among our mid-size company clients
Develop customized service plans and managing service delivery including preparing large account service instructions
Communicate progress to the team through verbal and written methods per department policies and to the Risk Control Manager during workload reviews
Meet all requirements under the department Service Review (QA) policy
Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.
Five years of risk control, risk management, or safety and health experience in an industrial environment preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations preferred or willingness to work towards these professional designations
Ability to understand how an organization operates through research, observation, and discussions with client contacts
Strong communication skills / Ability to translate understanding into communications with clients, brokers, and colleagues
Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills
Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize and execute assignments
Demonstrate strong client service management and consulting skills
Experience with business analytics and competent in understanding how to analyze loss reports, develop trends, and identify root causes of loss
Competent with MS Office products
Knowledge of relevant standards such as OSHA, ACGIH, and DOT
Willingness to travel by car within assigned territory with occasional overnight and air travel
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable MVR
Must be able to navigate through client locations in a safe manner including:
o Ascent and descend ladders and stairs to observe and evaluate client exposures
o Walking in interior and exterior environments where hot and cold exposures may exist
