Must-Have: Proficient in Excel and Electronic Medical Records; skilled in scanning documents into Electronic Health Records

Job Description:

- Compile health information, reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
- Organize medical reports for placement in files and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present.
- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
- File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and file and retrieve health information records from the filing system.
- Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of the request.
- Coordinate with other departments concerning health information records procedures.

Major Worker Characteristics:

- Knowledge of health information technology; regulations governing medical record keeping; requirements governing confidentiality of patient information; medical terminology.
- Skill in using a typewriter, word processor, and calculator.
- Ability to deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context; write routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures; proofread medical reports and recognize errors; recognize when medical records information is missing; gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.

Training and Development: Continuous learning and adaptation required to remain in position.
