Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Rigger/ Animator for our Character Pipeline to join our team at Autodesk Research, specifically focusing on re-imagining character and rigging systems for the AI era of our Entertainment & Media Solutions (EMS). This role is crucial in developing the digital representations and models that empower artists to bring animated characters and worlds to to life. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both technical skills and artistic understanding, as well as a passion for innovation in animation.

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $106,500 and $156,200. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop 3D rigging systems for animation projects
- Test designed models to ensure they are ready for Machine Learning pipeline
- Collaborate with research scientists to design motion controls
- Create scripts that will facilitate automation
- Understand and work within project requirements to create motion systems that align with the overall vision
- Assist in motion capture data acquisition projects
- Ensure all movements and deformations of characters appear natural or appropriate for specific styles of motion
- Debug and optimize technical issues in pipelines and cg models
- Stay updated with evolving animation trends and techniques
- Work with animation technology, using creative sensibilities and analytical skills to push the boundaries of behavioral models
- Communicate effectively with the animation and science teams to ensure the successful integration of the character rigs and models into the game or film
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in film/tv/game production working as or closely with Animators, Riggers, and Technical Directors
- Deep experience in designing and developing 3D rigging and motion control systems
- Intimate understanding of animation principles, styles, and the role of physics
- Driven to develop solutions and tools that put artists at the center of the character production using AI capabilities
- Proven ability to work within cross-functional teams on productions and/or projects
- Inclusive with superior collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Up-to-date expertise in cutting-edge character animation and rigging best practices, production pipelines, and human-centered design
- Pipeline and character systems coding skills
- Passion for innovation and improving the character production process
The Ideal Candidate
- Has worked within the film/tv/game production industries as a character Rigger and/or Animator and has hands-on understanding of best practices for modern 3D character animation production
- Strong desire to advance the character production process for a re-imagined entertainment industry
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the importance of data quality in animation workflows
- Has a passion for adopting new technologies and techniques to enhance animation workflows

Qualifications minimales
- Plus de 5 ans d'exprience dans la production de films/tv/jeux en tant qu'animateur, rigger et directeur technique ou en troite collaboration avec eux
- Exprience approfondie de la conception et du dveloppement de systmes de rigging et de contrle des mouvements en 3D
- Comprhension intime des principes d'animation, des styles et du rle de la physique
- Vous tes motiv pour dvelopper des solutions et des outils qui placent les artistes au centre de la production des personnages en utilisant les capacits de l'IA
- Capacit avre travailler au sein d'quipes interfonctionnelles sur des productions et/ou des projets
- Inclusif et dot d'excellentes aptitudes la collaboration
- Excellentes capacits de communication orale et crite
