Description
The Internal Controls & Audit Manager at Embark will oversee the organization's internal audit function and internal controls framework in a co-sourced model. This role oversees internal audit program and serves as the key contact and liaison with third-party internal audit partners, ensuring effective facilitation and oversight of audit engagements, while simultaneously managing the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal control systems. Reporting to the Chief Risk and Legal Officer and to the Audit, Finance and Risk Management Committee, the role provides significant value by integrating internal audit and controls, ensuring alignment with Embark's ERM framework and strategic goals.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Internal Audit
Facilitate and oversee co-sourced internal audit program and engagements, serving as the primary contact and liaison between Embark and third-party providers.
Ensure the internal audit function aligns with Embark's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, corporate strategy and corporate objectives and complies with regulatory requirements.
Review and approve audit plans, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of audit engagements.
Analyze audit findings and collaborate with divisional leaders and colleagues to implement corrective actions and improvements.
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on audit readiness.
Review and approve audit reports to ensure accuracy and clarity before presentation to senior management and the Audit and Finance Risk Management (AFRM) Committee.
Ensure the internal audit function remains independent and objective in all engagements.
Collaborate with ERM and divisional leaders and colleagues by integrating audit findings into the broader risk management framework.
Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement through audit insights and recommendations.
Internal Controls
Develop and implement a comprehensive internal control framework to mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks.
Collaborate with divisional leaders and peers to update internal control policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Collaborate with business leaders to embed controls within processes and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Conduct periodic control assessments to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for enhancement.
Lead initiatives to improve control processes and ensure they are scalable for future organizational growth.
Collaborate with ERM by integrating internal controls into the risk management framework.
[GG1] Assist in enhancing the organization's in-house Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) application to improve functionality and usability for 3 Lines of Defense (LOD) representative and leadership team purposes
Ensure emerging risks and trends identified by ERM is considered within internal controls and internal audit frameworks, recommending proactive measures to enhance organizational resilience.
Present control updates to senior leadership and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on control improvement initiatives.
Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA are strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in internal auditing, internal controls, or risk management.
Proven experience working with co-sourced or third-party internal audit providers.
Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000) and enterprise risk management principles.
Prior experience supporting a company's ICFR, SOX or ERM program, including evaluation and remediation of deficiencies
Familiarity with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms e.g. IBM OpenPages, RSA Archer, MetricStream.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Strategic Leadership: Ability to align audit and control processes with organizational objectives and ERM strategies.
Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with third-party providers and cross-functional teams.
Analytical Thinking: Expertise in assessing risks, identifying control gaps, and recommending actionable solutions.
Communication: Strong skills in presenting findings and updates to senior leaders and committees.
