Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Manning Family Children's in New Orleans seeks a physician with expertise in childhood malignancies. The physician will help continue the growth of the robust cancer treatment program. A commitment to academic medicine and scholarships is expected. A clinical focus in neuro-oncology and solid tumors fits the needs of the program and the best qualified individual will be given priority.
The Department of Pediatrics at LSUHSC is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including medical students, residents, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows. Oversight of clinical trials at Manning Family Children's as well as the implementation of new trials, membership in smaller sub-specialty organizations, and dissemination of knowledge through presentations and publications are other expectations.
Manning Family Children's is a 229-bed, not-for-profit Pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years. There is a dedicated Pediatric Hematology-Oncology hospital ward and out-patient clinic. A FACT-accredited stem cell transplant program as well as the state's only approved CAR-T cell program are in place. A $300 million campus transformation was completed in 2021. Hospital leadership is committed to programmatic growth and excellence.
Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible (or equivalent) in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities at the time of initial appointment. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor determined by the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.
