Description
Performs specialized professional library work including: collection development, collection maintenance, cataloging, managing the system-wide selection of physical and/or digital library materials in a specified area of the collection as a subject matter specialist, reference services, readers advisory services, programming, outreach, staff and patron training, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience with collection development, digital library platforms, selection tools, knowledge of user needs, budget management skills, and the ability to stay updated on emerging trends in the library field.
Candidate must possess the following:
1. Ability to successfully work in a collaborative environment.
2. Ability to select materials in various formats and languages. Familiarity with selection resources.
3. Ability to analyze user data and trends to identify popular titles, authors, and subject areas. Knowledge and skills to deselect outdated titles, monitor usage data, and create curated Reader's Advisory lists.
4. Knowledge of digital library platforms and ability to navigate selection criteria, pricing models, and user access for eAudiobooks and eBooks, including monitoring expired content and deselecting titles.

Typical Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of professional experience as a Librarian.
EDUCATION
Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university is required.

- Regularly reviews publishers' catalogs and other key selection tools.
- Selects new physical and/or digital library materials that align with the Library's Collection Development Policy.
- Assists Acquisitions, the Collection Management Supervisor, and the Collection Services Manager in planning, managing, organizing, and delivering physical and/or digital library materials throughout the fiscal year.
- Monitors and maintains library materials funds throughout the fiscal year.
- Directly interacts with library vendors.
- Works collaboratively to develop, implement, and maintain best practices for the Library's physical and/or digital collections.
- Performs advanced technical work in a specialized subject area within Collection Services.
- Coordinates system-wide collection initiatives.
- Identifies challenges in the Library's physical and/or digital collection and recommends solutions.
- Works collaboratively with other departments to provide needed resources for Programming and/or Outreach events.
- Resolves collection issues in collaboration with other library departments.
- Creates resources to familiarize staff with physical and/or digital library materials.
- Participates in outreach activities to promote the Library's collection to the public.
- Plans, develops, and presents formal and informal presentations.
- Develops and delivers training regarding physical and digital library materials.
- Assists in developing policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in the area of specialization.
- Visits library branches to assess collections, staff understanding of the collection, and assist with collection maintenance.
- Serves on library committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
