Description

Reporting to the Pension Administrator, this position is responsible for both technical and financial analysis with responsibility for participating in a wide range of financial reporting, vendor management, and maintaining pension administration software, Assist with and pension plan administration functions. Performs detailed confidential work supporting the objectives of the provisions required of the Police Pension Board, and City of Coral Springs Police Pension Plans. Assignments are performed with limited supervision requiring the exercise of sound judgment and initiative.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides analytical and administrative assistance in the development and implementation of efficient procedures that are in compliance with plan documents, State, and Federal laws.
  • Completes special projects or assignments, conducts research and analysis, formulate and communicates recommendations.
  • Assist in vendor searches, contract negotiation and vendor management to include annual vendor meetings and management of performance standards. Serves as the liaison for the City to outside vendors and retirements consultants/advisors. Improves processes through documentation and use of resources more efficiently. Contribute towards implementation of pension administration system, imaging and workflow, conversions or acquisition of software.
  • Assists in preparing agendas, including items for trustee consideration; and serves as backup to Pension Administrator.
  • Monitors contracts and insurance requirements
  • Monitors annual operating budgets for Pension funds and contributes to establishing the baseline budget annually.
  • Forecasts financial needs for pension plan administration budget, assists with annual COLA calculations, administers and confirms/evaluates eligibility for retirement benefits.
  • Analyze monthly portfolio statements, including finalizing contracts.
  • Analyze and process disability applications.
  • Supports year-end internal audit, responds to audit requests and compilation of financial support for rating agencies as needed. Assist with State Annual Report.
  • Monitors annual operating budgets for the Pension Administration Office, as needed and contributes to budget baseline annually.
  • Coordinates responses with appropriate pension members and retirees and ensures timely submission of requests.
  • Coordinates the trustee election process.

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or related field. FPPTA certification required within three (3) years of hire. Minimum of three years of professional related experience, Florida Chapter 175/185 Retirement Plan administration preferred, knowledge of retirement plan administration including ERISA and non-ERISA plans, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Competent in the use of Excel, Micro-Soft Suite, and Adobe Pro.
