Overview
Under the direction of the Manager of the Healthcare Advanced Learning Lab & Simulation Operations the Clinical Simulation Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and operation of simulation-based education and training. This role collaborates with educators, clinicians, technical staff, and other stakeholders to develop high-quality, immersive learning experience that enhance clinical skills, patient safety, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining simulation equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, assisting in scenario development, and ensuring the seamless execution of simulation sessions.

Qualifications
- Associates degree required.
- Bachelors in Nursing preferred.
- Registered Nurse - NM.
- Certification from Society of Simulation in Healthcare within 2 years from hire.
Responsibilities
- Learns and applies skills and critical thinking related to these categories at an advanced level including advanced precepting in these categories:
- Educator
- Independently drives learning / performance needs assessment.
- Collaborates in the identification of target audience performance needs/gaps.
- Defines the performance gap objectives and partners with management to achieve agreement on approach to bridge the gap.
- Creates optimal, budget-conscious instructional design to achieve performance objectives.
- Incorporates evidence-based data to structure instructional design and performance content.
- Drives the implementation of educational content/program in collaboration with management and team members.
- Builds the approach, deployment, collection, analysis and reporting of simulation program effectiveness.
- Designs new simulation programs to meet organizational strategic objectives.
- Performance evaluator
- Builds and implements Levels 1-4 evaluation tools to measure satisfaction, learning, and transfer to performance based upon simulation performance objectives.
- Partners with management and clinical educators to assess clinical performance gaps and build simulations accordingly.
- Clinical Practitioner
- Role models and coaches in pre and post debriefs as well during simulations.
- Role model for highest specialty standards.
- Mentors others in evidence-based-practice to enhance simulation practice.
- Simulation
- Builds and evaluates simulations and debriefs that are basic to complex in nature.
- Precepts on how to create, run, debrief simulations.
- Creates simulations based on clinical, quality, risk needs from all interprofessional groups.
- Incorporates simulation equipment, and supplies for identified learning objectives of basic to complexed.
- Maintains, trouble shoots, provides input, precepts simulators (low, medium, and high fidelity), medical simulation equipment, Augmented/Mixed/Virtual Reality devices, and the simulation center for cleanliness and optimal functionality.
- Provides, precepts, learners in Augmented Mixed / Virtual Reality devices and scenarios.
- Collaborates with inventory management of simulation supplies and equipment.
- Consultant/Collaborator
- Works and mentors team members within Clinical Education team and clinical management to implement and effectively use simulation.
- Initiates and/or supporting changes in practice through the clinical governance process.
- Participates and leads in local, state and/or national committees, specialty groups.
- Test and support clinical equipment rollouts for the organization
Researcher. - Incorporates research into simulation; leads research projects.
- Supports, builds, initiates new research to enhance practice.
- May participate in the PHS Institutional Review Board (IRB).
