Job Description:

The ideal candidate is an orthopedic physical therapist residing in the Northeast United States with recent experience in a similar role (Director of Clinical Excellence, Clinical Specialist, Director of ClinOps, Director of Quality, etc.) with multisite experience.

The Director of Clinical Excellence (DCE) leads clinical practice by partnering with the Vice President of Operations, Regional Vice Presidents, and Regional Directors in promoting consistent, effective, and efficient evidence-based practice to achieve the best outcomes. The DCE develops and supports the organization in clinical analysis, education, training, and strategic planning to drive clinical excellence. The DCE serves as a clinical expert and provides clinical leadership to the entire organization in service delivery, programs, and initiatives. The DCE supports the company goals of clinical excellence, operational excellence, people first, and growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively provides clinical excellence through assessment, analysis, and strategic planning including evidence-based practice, best practice guidelines, tools, and resources to enhance care delivery


  • Completes a root cause analysis in focus center(s), regions, territories, or individual clinician(s) to provide clinical excellence by following clinical practice standards and regulatory compliance.


  • Works to achieve the company's key performance indicators through clinical excellence initiatives


  • Regularly reviews metrics to ensure performance targets are met


  • Identifies educational needs of individual centers, regions, territories, and the larger organization to promote clinical growth


  • Identifies needs, develops, and implements innovative clinical programs for clinical growth


  • Actively engages in sustainability of clinical excellence initiatives throughout the organization


  • Acts as a content expert in specialty practice


  • Participates in local, state, and/or national professional associations and promotes professional advocacy.


  • Promotes the advancement of therapy practice within the organization.


  • Influences patient outcomes through patient centered care and engagement initiatives


  • Communicate how clinical practice can benefit and support operational excellence, teammate retention, and company growth


  • Recognizes and promotes the professional development opportunities for clinicians


  • Supports documentation excellence through periodic reviews, action planning, and education


  • Acts as a content expert in compliance investigations to provide guidance to the compliance team and organizational leadership on state, federal, and payer rules and regulations.


  • Participates in any quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives as directed by leadership


  • Acts as a clinical liaison and consultant to support teams within the organization (marketing, sales, talent acquisition, university relations, etc.)


  • Participates in professional development opportunities to continually improve skills, knowledge and competence.


  • Actively drives the "Ivy Commitment to Clinical Excellence" within all aspects of the organization


  • Is an expert in ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and billing that is supported by the comprehensive evaluation, assessment, and plan of care.


  • Is an expert in state, federal, payer, and professional organization rules, laws, and regulations.


  • Participates in partnership meetings as directed by leadership


  • Performs other duties as assigned


To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Must have a valid Physical Therapy license in the state in which they practice


  • Must have completed a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy


  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in patient care (ortho, sports, preferred)


  • Must have a minimum of 3 years in leadership or supervisory experience


  • Management and operational leadership experience preferred


  • Must be a member of their professional organization

  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft 365 products. Knowledge of Smartsheets, learning management systems, and Articulate preferred.

Compensation for this role ranges from $105,000.00 - $110,000.00 based on experience.
