Why does the job exist?

The Registered Nurse -Supervisor/Healthcare Surveyor - Supervisor will:
  • Perform surveys and investigations of Nursing Homes and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) facilities to determine their level of compliance with State and Federal regulations.


How does it get done?

The Registered Nurse -Supervisor/Healthcare Surveyor - Supervisor is responsible for:
  • Interviewing residents/clients and staff of healthcare facilities;
  • Evaluating the facility environment to ensure it meets safety and infection control standards;
  • Observing Medication administration and wound care for compliance;
  • Reviewing records;
  • Ensuring resident/client rights meet regulation standards;
  • Ensuring quality of care and quality of life meet regulation standards.

  • New Mexico residents receiving healthcare services.

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting and in long term care facilities and ICF/IID with phone and extensive computer usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Extensive instate travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Some out-of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
