Job Description:
- Responsible for healthcare of 20-60 bedridden individuals in a correctional setting
- Conducts rounds to evaluate care needed and rendered
- Develops care plans and provides health education
- Administers medication, including narcotics, and all direct nursing care as needed
- Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusion, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy duties
- Organizes and oversees the 'code blue' team
- Directs healthcare staff, including hospital aides and licensed practical nurses, on assigned shifts
- Assists physician in conducting diagnostic health evaluations
- Performs clerical tasks like charting, recording medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information
- Completes required reports, including incident and accident reports
- Documents Medicaid information and orders supplies and equipment
- Maintains a constant and exact inventory of all controlled drugs, medication, and equipment
- Arranges outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations
- Manages new and refilled prescriptions through local pharmacy
- Performs administrative tasks and acts as a liaison with others in the organization
- Conducts and attends meetings
- Serves as an instructor on occasion and as a member or leader of problem-solving teams or groups

Skills:
- Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as stethoscopes, otoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and EKG machines
- Ability to handle some abstract but mostly concrete variables
- Write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports
