Position Summary:

The Planner Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates, schedules, and plans for projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications dedicated to a client portfolio. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of project management tools, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to ensure the successful completion of projects. This role will report to either the Senior Project Manager or Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for projects by analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, identifying key milestones and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • Monitor and track project budgets and schedules to ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend solutions for mitigating project delays or cost overruns.
  • Review and adjust project estimates and schedules as needed to accommodate changes in scope or unforeseen issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and participate in bidding processes.
  • Maintain a database of historical project data to improve future estimates.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain cost data and ensure pricing accuracy.
  • Review contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with cost and schedule requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in planning, estimating, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera, or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with industry-specific cost estimation methods and practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Work Environment: The role may require time in the office as well as on-site visits to gather data or review progress. Travel may be required depending on project location.
