The primary function of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction is to coordinate the efforts which help develop, implement, and assess the instructional program for the entire district. The Director provides leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services.

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
Master's Degree, Classroom Teaching experience
Minimum five years administrative experience, Principal experience preferred.
Valid driver's license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Planning and Organization
  • Provides staff leadership to insure understanding of and promote the educational objectives of the district.
  • Plans and administers programs of professional development activities for instructional personnel.
  • Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Keeps the lines of communication open between central office and building level administration.
  • Develops proposals for state and federal grants.
  • Prepares and submits reports and other documents as requested by the superintendent and the board of education.
  • Supports collaborative planning efforts related to District-wide events, i.e. math contests, spelling bee, Young Authors.

2. Management Practices
  • Coordinates all formal efforts of the professional staff in projects of curriculum improvement.
  • Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of district testing programs and for other evaluative measures used by the schools.
  • Directs the publication of all curriculum guides and materials to be used by the instructional staff.
  • Observes teachers in their classrooms upon request of principals, and offers insights for the enhancement of the teaching and learning process.
  • Prepares and monitors the federal and state grant project budgets. Supervises maintenance of all required records and reports
  • Prepares and monitors the development and execution of district budget accounts related to general educational curriculum, programs and professional development.
  • Maintains and coordinates District Dashboard.
  • Manages and coordinates the summer school program.
  • Maintains communication with high school districts.
  • Maintains District professional development hours for ISBE.
  • Administers Mentoring and Induction Program

3. Division Services
  • Coordinates Kindergarten registration and screening.
  • Acts as OCR Survey Coordinator
  • Chairs the district's Curriculum Coordinating Council and facilitates the work of all curriculum committee work. Serves as the coordinator of all IASA federal programs.
  • Meets with principals and staff committees to coordinate projects of curriculum improvement
  • Supervises the competitive grant department.
  • Supervises the coordination of gifted education.
  • Supervises the coordination of R&I.
  • Coordinates reading and math specialists' roles as well as instructional coaches at the Middle School.
  • Acts as Homeless Liaison, Student Records Administrator, Foster Care Liaison, Nondiscrimination Coordinator, and Title I and Title IX Coordinator for the District.
  • Manages residency related questions, problems and investigations.

4. Professional Growth
  • Participates in board meetings, administrative council meetings and other meetings as required, or appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains cordial relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster support for overall district objectives and programs
  • Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings reading professional journals, and maintaining a collegial dialog on problems of mutual interest.
  • Keeps the superintendent informed of district activities and problems.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the superintendent in accordance with district policies and practices.

Start date: July 1, 2025
This is a 12 month Administrative position.
Salary range no less than $120,000
