Job Summary

The Manager of Project Engineering at Jim Myers & Sons Inc. (JMS) plays a pivotal role in leading the successful execution of

engineering projects. This position is responsible for leading a team of project engineers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards. The Manager of Project Engineering will provide technical guidance, review project plans and specifications, and collaborate with various stakeholders. This role demands a strong leader with extensive engineering knowledge, excellent project management skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in project execution processes.

Responsibilities
Manage and schedule all project engineering workload and evaluate quality and timeliness of deliverables
Manage, mentor, and hold the project engineering team accountable to ensure high performance
Provide training, guidance, and support to enhance the skills and knowledge of the project engineering team
Conduct regular performance management and evaluations of team members
Develop and report on individual and departmental KPIs
Thoroughly review all plans & specs, identify potential technical risks and propose solutions
Extract relevant information from contract specifications & drawings, manage timelines, and meet deadlines
Prepare and manage project documentation while preparing all necessary RFIs for project execution
Complete all required project calculations, including process and structural calculations, and write detailed technical reports
Adhere to project schedule and specifications to meet the project's objectives and milestones
Communicate and coordinate work with external PE resources as necessary to obtain approvals and certifications
Select and specify purchased components based on calculations and project requirements
Obtain quotes and models from vendors, ensuring all specifications are met
Conduct thorough internal checks of all drawings and designs before submission
Lead design reviews and perform thorough drawing checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
Create comprehensive submittals, including catalog cut sheets, clarifications, and RFI's
Review fabrication drawings and support manufacturing teams by addressing technical questions and design changes
Interface on technical issues with project managers, designers, manufacturing, purchasing, and field service
Provide guidance to technical writers and review O&M manuals

Qualifications, Desired Experience, and Skills
High level of knowledge/experience with applying engineering principals to electro-mechanical equipment
High level of proficiency with completing engineering calculations
Experience with sizing and selecting components and created comprehensive submittal packages
Experience with the design of mechanical equipment, weldments, and assemblies
Proficiency in SolidWorks with proven ability to create robust 3D models
Experience with power transmission equipment including motors, gearboxes, chain drives, shafts & bearings
Ability to work effectively & efficiently with project team members on multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills including the ability to negotiate positive outcomes
Requires a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office: Teams, Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, & Outlook
Experience with Risa or equivalent structural design and detailing software
Experience with fabrication processes such as bending, punching, welding, machining, etc.
Experience with water treatment processes a plus
Experience with FEA and/or CFD is a plus
Registered Professional Engineering License a plus

Education
Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant field of engineering with equivalent

combination of experience
