Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Float Pool
Job Specialty: ICU Float Pool
Job Duration: 26 weeks
Shift: Night Shift 7P-7A, 12-hour shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; first-time travelers are welcome
License: Registered Nurse
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
Must-Have: Neuro and Trauma experience
Job Description:
- Provide care for multispecialty critical care patients including Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, and Trauma
- Manage common diagnoses such as Stroke, ICP monitoring, EVD Drains, spinal precautions, DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, COVID, STEMI, NSTEMI, and Heart failure
- Float between various units as needed, including emergency holds, observation patients, and stepdown units
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 based on acuity, with a possibility of a third patient during downgrades
- Ensure ventilator management and administer critical care drips including titration
- Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation, measure cardiac strips, and manage drains, chest tubes, hemodynamic lines, and stroke emergencies
- Collaborate with medical support staff including CNAs, Charge nurses, Resource nurses, Hospitalists, and Intensivists
- Utilize systems and equipment like Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Participate in a general hospital orientation and receive a unit tour by the education department
Note: Weekend rotation is required every other weekend with expectations for holiday shifts to be approved by the manager.
