Compensation:
Full-Time Pay Range: $97,843.20 - $127,212.80 / year
-CME allowance: Part-time and Full-time benefited APPs receive an annual $2,000.00 CME allowance.
Work Schedule: Day shift, Monday-Friday
- Mon-Thu 8-5pm at Adolescent Health Center
- Friday 8-5pm at 1917 Clinic
- No weekends, holidays, or call.

UAB Medicine is seeking to hire a CRNP for a full-time position to join our multidisciplinary team in the UAB Family Clinic. UAB Family Clinic is a Ryan White funded clinic providing care for women, infants, children, adolescents and young adults with HIV. We are one of two clinics providing HIV care for children under the age of 18 years in the State of Alabama. We care for patients with both perinatal acquired HIV as well as later acquisition. Our focus is to provide holistic care for women with HIV and their affected children, support them throughout pregnancy, children born in the US with HIV as well as international adoptees with HIV and adolescents and young adults with acquired HIV, including many who identify with the LGBTQ community. We are actively engaged in community outreach and advocacy activities to raise awareness regarding HIV, encourage testing and linkage to care. We are actively engaged in both research and quality improvement projects to improve the medical care and lives of people living with HIV and collaborate with many organizations and researchers. The ideal candidate is someone comfortable caring for patients from a widely diverse background, understands trauma informed care (or is willing to learn), is passionate to deliver the highest standard of care with compassion to a patient population that is marginalized, have a stigmatizing diagnosis and frequently struggle with many of the social determinants of health
Job Description:
Preferred skills: Prior experience working with patients living with HIV, on PrEP, or diagnosed with other sexually transmitted infections is a plus. Cultural sensitivity to diverse active user population, and Black, Hispanic, LGBTQ+ and varied cultures. Self-directed, motivated and flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to pediatric patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610-X-5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code) or under supervision of a Board Certified Physician (Section 540-X-7 of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre-approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record. To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient's medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement. To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing with a Family NP certification. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
