What You Will Do

The Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division is seeking a creative, innovative, and customer-focused Computing Systems Professional 1 (CSP-1) / Computing Systems Professional 2 (CSP-2) to join the Device Configuration Services (ICE-DCS) group as a Mobile Device Management Specialist. The ICE Division, comprised of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computing Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technicians, provides cutting-edge IT expertise to various Laboratory organizations, designing, building, and supporting mission-driven technical solutions across both unclassified and classified networks through multiple service touchpoints. This team plays a critical role in optimizing IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless delivery and operation of IT services, monitoring system performance, applying configuration management best practices, and developing standards and processes for IT implementation.

As a Mobile Device Management Specialist, you will co-lead the configuration, testing, and deployment of MDM policies, profiles, and compliance rules to enforce security and management standards. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining test environments for new iOS and mobile configurations, ensuring stability, security, and operational readiness before deployment. In this role, you will also implement and optimize endpoint security solutions (e.g., CarbonBlack, CrowdStrike) and VPN technologies to protect mobile devices and enforce enterprise security policies. Additionally, you will automate IT workflows using PowerShell scripting for reporting, policy validation, and process optimization, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of mobile device management processes. Collaboration will be key as you work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to enhance mobile security frameworks, streamline device management, and drive IT optimization. You will also monitor system performance, apply configuration management best practices, and ensure compliance with security policies as LANL's mobile ecosystem evolves. This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Professional 1 or Computing Systems Professional 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Computing Systems Professional 1 (CSP-1) ($69,500 - $110,300)

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing enterprise-level mobile device management, endpoint security, and technical support for a large-scale mobile ecosystem within both unclassified and classified networks. This role requires a self-directed, innovative, and detail-oriented professional with the ability to adhere to security guidelines, industry best practices, and enterprise policies. Job duties will include a full spectrum of mobile device management, security enforcement, and system administration, including but not limited to:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot mobile issues for users via ticketing systems and front-desk rotations.
  • Assist in diagnosing, resolving, and deploying MDM policies and compliance rules within Microsoft Intune to enforce security standards.
  • Build and test mobile device configurations, ensuring security, functionality, and troubleshooting issues before enterprise rollout.
  • Develop and troubleshoot basic scripts to automate processes, enhance compliance reporting, and analyze policy effectiveness.
  • Assist with VPN integration and troubleshooting to ensure seamless remote access for mobile users.
  • Maintain and document standard operating procedures and best practices related to mobile device management.

Computing Systems Professional 2 (CSP-2) ($83,900 - $136,600)
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will perform the following, including but not limited to:

  • Lead MDM policy development by designing, deploying, and managing compliance policies, configuration profiles, and security settings for mobile devices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analysis for mobile platforms, ensuring compliance with evolving security policies.
  • Test accessories for devices to ensure compatibility, functionality, and security before deployment.
  • Develop advanced scripts to automate policy enforcement, perform data analytics, and compare configurations across systems.
  • Spearhead troubleshooting efforts in beta testing environments, ensuring seamless transitions to production deployment.
  • Act as a mentor for junior team members and lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance mobile security and management.
  • Manage escalations for complex security incidents, device failures, and integration issues with enterprise mobility solutions.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Job Requirements for Computing Systems Professional 1:
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting mobile devices, including diagnosing issues, resolving security concerns, and ensuring system reliability across various environments.
  • Experience with vulnerability remediation, including applying patches, updates, and maintaining system security and compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical solutions effectively.
Additional Job Requirements for the Computing Systems Professional 2:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
  • Knowledge of MDM access management, permissions, and compliance enforcement.
  • Experience in analyzing, monitoring, and mitigating security risks by implementing protective measures.
  • Experience with automation and scripting to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and support system maintenance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise device management, including Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions such as Microsoft Intune, MobileIron, and BlackBerry UEM, as well as iOS enterprise management.
  • Strong automation and compliance skills, using PowerShell scripting and security best practices to manage policies and improve efficiency.
  • Ability to create and analyze metrics dashboards using tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy, or similar analytics platforms.
  • CompTIA: Security+ or CASP+
  • MDM Certifications: JAMF, Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, MobileIron, BlackBerry UEM, Citrix Endpoint Management, or other industry-recognized Mobile Device Management certifications.****

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
