Job Title: Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist
Job Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization
Job Duration: 14 weeks
Shift: Day, 5x8 Hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Experience: Preferred - Two years in Cardiology/Cath Lab
License: Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS within 18 months of hire
Certifications: BLS - American Heart Association, Current ACLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, Fluoroscopy Certification
Must-Have: Radiation badges
Job Description:
- Provide technical support in the cardiac catheterization laboratory during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
- Offer patient care under the supervision of the RN.
- Assist physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acting as a scrub assistant, and maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
- Operate imaging equipment and work in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
- Educate patients and families regarding the procedure and what to expect.
- Teach patients and families about pre and post-procedure physical conditions.
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit and ensure appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
- Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards. Accurately document productivity information.
- Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identify potential areas for improvement, including processes that could be streamlined or revised to enhance patient satisfaction. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate actions.
- Promote mission, vision, and values and abide by service behavior standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
