The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Construction Project Manager.
HBMD maintains and improves the County's highway/street system, operates and maintains 3 bascule bridges, over 90 fixed bridges, and oversees the mosquito control operations. HBMD is responsible for fixed and bascule bridge maintenance, storm-water drainage improvements, sidewalk repairs and upgrade, street resurfacing and patching, guardrail maintenance, cleaning and mowing rights-of-way.
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, designing, and contracting various maintenance and repair services for County roadway and/or bridge related engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a project manager in roadway, fixed bridge, and structural bridge projects, and will manage a variety of design projects. Must possess experience in the management, planning, design, procurement, documentation and construction administration of projects. Must posses excellent communication and advanced computer skills. Duties include, but not limited to, ability to: prepare construction plans in GIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation, prepare construction specifications for use in bidding, perform field reviews and construction site inspections; gather the necessary project documentation in support of contractor invoicing and as-built records; follow through on project schedule commitments and milestones; prioritize maintenance and repair projects; and provide technical support to construction crews.
General Description
Performs advanced professional and administrative work in the design and management of construction projects for the County.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in architecture, civil engineering, construction management or closely related field.
Requires eight (8) years of professional engineering and/or construction management experience relevant to the area of assignment or closely related experience.
