Job Title: Acute Care Speech Language Pathologist
Job Specialty: Language Pathologist
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8 hours, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 5+ years
License: MA State Licensure
Certifications: ASHA Certification, Current CPR Certification
Must-Have:
- Experience managing complex patients with Head and Neck Cancer, tracheostomy, dysphagia.
- Analytical abilities sufficient to evaluate patients' condition, capabilities, and progress to develop appropriate treatment programs.
- Effective interpersonal skills to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential information, communicating policies and procedures, and interacting with patients, families, and various members of the health care team.
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
- Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office.
- Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
- Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial, and ethnic populations.
- Must be able to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.
Job Description:
- Provide specialized speech and language therapy services to acute care patients.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient evaluations, progress, and outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on therapy strategies and progress to promote awareness and improvement.
- Continuously update skills and knowledge through professional development opportunities to maintain high standards of care.
- Preferred: FEES Competency.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
