Responsibilities

The Water Resources Project Manager provides hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, engineering design, plan preparation, support, and assistance on projects within the Water Resources Team. Project types include watershed studies, riverine analysis, drainage improvements, hydraulics modeling for bridge/culvert replacements, and floodplain impact evaluations.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling evaluations for various projects.
  • Technical Writing (Engineering Reports, memorandum, etc.) to document objectives, methodologies, assumptions, and findings.
  • Floodplain development permitting, including No-Rise certifications and CLOMR/LOMR applications.
  • Providing technical guidance to junior staff in the Water Resources Team.
  • Preparing construction drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Bidding and construction administration for projects within the Water Resources Team as needed to provide clarification and responses to requests for information received by McGill's construction field representatives or administrators.
  • Reviewing floodplain and permit submittals on behalf of local municipalities.
  • Interacting with clients on assigned projects, including preparing presentations for public and/or board meetings.
  • Working with the Practice Area Leader of Water Resources on preparing scopes, fees, and proposal in support of business development.
  • Additional work could include water distribution and sanitary sewer collection modeling and evaluations.
  • Serves on Committees and Teams as requested by management.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Project Management Skills
  • Ability to review a project scope and budget, understand the overall goals, assess the required tasks and associated budget and build a project execution plan.
  • Proven ability to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to monitor project metrics, analyze project performance and determine courses of corrective action to bring the project back on track.
  • Proven ability to lead teams of technicians and engineers, guide decision making, and perform effective quality control to meet desired project goals.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Client management and marketing experience.
  • Critical thinking and in-depth analysis.
  • Independent thinker and self-starter.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, seek out direction from PALs or other McGill leadership and research necessary skills and knowledge as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with a focus on hydrology and hydraulics. Master's preferred.
  • 8-12 years of previous water resources engineering experience.
  • NC Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within six months.
  • Proficient in preparation of no-rise and CLOMR/LOMR applications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and GPS data collection.
  • Proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar modeling platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficiency in Bentley (Haested) Suite of Hydraulic tools.
  • Experience and interest in WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS is a plus.
  • Floodplain Manager Certification (CFM) is a plus.
  • Valid Driver License.
