Objective of Partnerships
The purpose of the Partnerships team is to forge, nurture, and sustain strategic alliances and cooperative networks to enhance and expand MIGA's capacity to offer Guarantee Products, thereby advancing our core mission of promoting foreign direct investment in emerging markets.
MIGPT is engaging a consultant to support the Partnership team's efforts to bolster donor relations and enhance fundraising capabilities to support MIGA's strategic objectives. The consultant will formulate a donor fundraising strategy to fund MIGA's existing and planned multi-donor trust funds. The target donors should include both sovereign bilaterals and philanthropies/private foundations. The consultant will also be responsible for on-going communication with donors and coordinate responses for information requests and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for a range of strategic activities aimed at enhancing donor engagement and optimizing fundraising efforts for MIGA MSP trust funds. Key responsibilities include:
Independent Research and Data Collection: Conduct thorough research to understand donor priorities and grant-making strategies, analyzing current trends to identify key performance indicators that drive donor decisions.
Partnership Development: Create a framework for prioritizing and sequencing potential partnerships with other institutions, ensuring optimal engagement with organizations that align with MIGA's mission.
Fundraising Support: Compile detailed background information essential for supporting fundraising initiatives and strengthening donor relations. This includes conducting research on donor priorities and assembling a list of donors whose interests aligns with the goals of the MIGA MSP trust funds.
Donor Engagement and Communication Development: Act as the primary contact for day-to-day interactions with donors, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring regular updates about MIGA's work. Additionally, design and produce communication materials such as brochures and reports to enhance MIGA's visibility and outreach.
Collaboration in Fundraising Program Development: Contribute and actively participate in the development of MIGA's fundraising programs, ensuring cohesive efforts throughout.
Data Tracking and Reporting: Collect and consolidate operational indicators for fund activities, analyze data, and produce detailed reports evaluating fund performance against established objectives and targets.
Operational Improvement: Monitor ongoing fund results, identify areas requiring improvement and suggest effective strategies to address these challenges while regularly reviewing fund activities and generating performance reports to share with MIGA Partnerships heads.
Knowledge Dissemination: Facilitate the sharing and integration of reports, tools, lessons learned, and best practices across projects, regions, and MIGA portfolios.
Concept Note Development and Stakeholder Coordination: Assist in crafting new Fund Concept Notes, coordinate the submission of proposals for establishing new Trust Funds, and act as a liaison among stakeholders to handle all related matters.
Legal Compliance and Policy Maintenance: Collaborate with the Legal Department to prepare and finalize legal agreements for the establishment of Trust Funds, ensuring adherence to all MIGA/WBG GP policies and procedures relevant to fund management and operations.
Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Coordinate engagements with relevant World Bank units on policy, procedural and operational matters related to trust funds and partnerships.
Funds Management Enhancement: Lead the review of funds management practices, recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness, monitor activities, and report progress toward expected outcomes.
The consultant shall report directly to the Co-Heads of Partnerships ensuring a cohesive and productive working relationship with these key stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
Master's degree in economics, finance, international relations and/or public policy with minimum of 8 years relevant work experience in an international environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Substantial and diverse experience in WBG trust funds and donor relations.
Thorough understanding of trust fund policies, procedures, guidelines, and results agenda.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, conceptualize and implement activities, and produce complex reports.
Good knowledge of political risk insurance and credit enhancement.
Fluent and excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
Strong ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
Outstanding interpersonal, diplomatic and partnership skills and proven ability to work in a collaborative environment with team members, across organizational boundaries and with external stakeholders and to build alliances for results, with strong degree of tact and judgment.
Demonstrated ability to undertake tasks within a rapidly changing and demanding environment on short deadlines.
High institutional and strong organizational ability.
Demonstrated ability to complete work in specified timeframes consistently.
