Description: Located in St. John's, Newfoundland, Maderra Engineering Inc. provides Engineering, Design, Project Management, Project Services, Technical Services, as well as Recruitment and Staffing Services to the Energy, Utility, Resource, and Commercial sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working with the Electrical Engineering and Design team, the primary duties of the Electrical Engineer include:
Provide discipline interface to our clients.
Provide technical and estimating input to proposals.
Manage projects within budget and schedule constraints.
Carry out electrical assessments, analysis, and studies and prepare Study Reports.
Design of Electrical systems including power distribution, cabling and raceway, lighting, electrical heat trace, grounding, fire alarm, security, data distribution, and others.
Perform power systems analysis (short circuit, arc flash, protection and coordination, etc) and prepare associated reports.
Perform calculations for power systems, lighting, voltage drop, grounding, service/feeder size, and others.
Provide direction, oversight, review, and stamping for the development and completion of design deliverables including drawings, specifications, reports, and others.
Prepare material take-offs, budget estimates, work packages, and specifications.
Visit construction and plant sites on an as required basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are required:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Registration with PEGNL (or eligible for registration).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a multi-discipline Engineering Design office.
Experience with design of electrical systems for Industrial and Oil/Gas plants would be considered an asset.
Experience in the usage of Electrical design and analysis software packages including ETAP, Lighting Design, and others.
Familiarity and experience with the Canadian Electrical Code and other national and local electrical codes and standards.
Familiarity and expertise with the other Codes and Standards, such as the National Building Code of Canada, and others required to effectively perform the duties.
Efficient in the use of MS Office software suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively while performing multiple tasks.
Demonstrated analytical skills, proficiency in report writing, excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with the design team in the resolution of project related issues.
Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and be flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment.
