The Network Engineering role is a pivotal position within our organization, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure that supports our day-to-day operations. This role is crucial in ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the network systems, allowing our teams to operate efficiently and effectively. As technology continues to evolve, the Infrastructure Network Engineer must stay current with industry trends, ensuring that our network infrastructure is robust and able to handle increasing demands. The ability to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and implement scalable solutions are key to this role. In essence, the Network Engineer not only plays a vital role in daily operations but also contributes significantly to the strategic planning of the organization's future technology enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Ensure the security of the network infrastructure and address vulnerabilities.
  • Implement routing and switching protocols for optimal performance.
  • Provide technical support to team members and other departments.
  • Document network configurations and maintain accurate system records.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan network upgrades and expansions.
  • Conduct routine testing and updates to network systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend network hardware and software solutions.
  • Establish and maintain disaster recovery solutions for the network infrastructure.
  • Participate in capacity planning and network design initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of emerging networking technologies and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain network policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior network staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience with firewall configurations and access control.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN technologies and design.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIA) preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of network security principles.
  • Proven experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with cloud networking solutions is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
