General Summary:

The Workplace Violence and Resiliency Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing programs directed to support employee wellness and safety. This position supports the physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff who are at high risk for workplace violence and distress within the workplace.Oversight includes providing de-escalation training to staff and assisting to integrate this training into workplace practices. The incumbent will also be responsible for tracking and trending workplace violence incidents, determining initiatives to reduce incidents of workplace violence. The incumbent works with key stake holders to evaluate opportunities for improvement related to restraints, use of force, and dangerous/destructive individuals. The incumbent will participate as a member of the Environment of Care committee. Additionally, the incumbent will coordinate efforts regarding Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team and peer support services.The incumbent will have exceptional leadership skills to foster strong relationships and engage key stakeholders to deliver an efficient, coordinated, and quality services.

Responsibilities:

1. Manages the de-escalation program for Bayhealth, including implementation and execution. Has knowledge of and ability to apply strategies to reduce workplace violence.
2. Provide education and training for Bayhealth team members regarding de-escalation techniques, developing additional training as required.
3. Coordinate efforts and teams for peer support services to include CISM principles.
4. Optimize organizational goals, objectives, and imperatives regarding workplace safety and violence. Must be able to drive change and motivate staff.
5. Creates regular reports for the Environment of Care Committee.
6. Analyzes trends in violent incidents through tracking code gray incidents, incidents of escalation, and restraint for follow-up training and process improvement opportunities; uses past incidents to provide a proactive approach to reduce future workplace safety incidents.
7. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree- Psychology
  • Credential(s): Basic Life Support -Within 90 days, if not already obtained.
  • Experience: Required: 2 years of experience within healthcare services. Experience in communication, negotiation, creativity, flexibility, and problem solving.

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

  • Education: Master's degree, Psychology
    Education Related field Sociology & Human Services
  • Credential(s):
  • Experience: Preferred: Five years of working with mental health patients in a healthcare setting. Experience as a trainer or educator.
