What You'll Do:
As a Senior Manager or Senior Principal, you will excel in engagement leadership and delivery with a primary focus on our Regulatory Advisory projects, plus have the versatility to deliver on other West Monroe E&U engagements as needed. You'll also work with our Regulatory Advisory leadership team in building and growing our business. You'll be a key point of contact for our clients and establish yourself as a thought leader in the space. Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. What You'll Do:
As a Senior Manager or Senior Principal, you will excel in engagement leadership and delivery with a primary focus on our Regulatory Advisory projects, plus have the versatility to deliver on other West Monroe E&U engagements as needed. You'll also work with our Regulatory Advisory leadership team in building and growing our business. You'll be a key point of contact for our clients and establish yourself as a thought leader in the space. Client Delivery
- Lead teams serving Energy & Utilities clients while demonstrating executive presence with high level client counterparts, with a primary focus on engagements and clients in Regulatory Advisory
- Act as or support the Project Manager in developing project plans, milestones, and deliverables on large engagements
- Manage teams on client projects to be able to keep project on schedule
- Support development of project deliverables and review the work products of the team
- Manage and escalate project risks and issues
- Contribute to the Energy & Utilities consulting practice by developing methodologies, service offerings, and fostering a best-practices culture.
- If requested by the client, provide expert witness support that includes written and live testimony
Business Development
- Cultivate new and existing client development opportunities for the E&U consulting practice, with a focus on Regulatory Advisory
- Originate and manage client development opportunities and sales cycle with prospective new and existing clients
- Lead development of proposals, work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for project prospects
- Attend networking events and actively build and leverage a professional network and affiliate network in the Energy & Utilities community
Practice Development
- Drive growth and development within West Monroe's Energy & Utilities Practice from a service offering, culture, and thought leadership perspective, with a primary focus on our Regulatory Advisory solution set
- Establish yourself as an industry thought leader in the regulatory space, through publications, conference engagements, white papers, and active association membership
- Lead, mentor, and grow consultants with respect to regulatory and consulting capability, and actively participate in the career advisory and performance management process
- Participate actively in the recruiting process for additional practice managers and consultants
- Provide entrepreneurial desire and act with selflessness to give your time, energy, and passion to growing the firm's culture and our people both inside and outside of office hours
- If proximal to a West Monroe office, contribute to the development of the local office culture and growth
What else you bring:
- Working knowledge of and direct experience with regulation of US electric and gas distribution, with demonstrated expertise in at least two of the capability areas described previously across at least two jurisdictions. Prior exposure to transmission regulatory issues is desirable but not required.
- Minimum 10 years of work experience within the Energy & Utilities industry and at least four years of direct experience in utility regulatory matters as a management consultant, industry leader, regulatory legal counsel (either in-house or external), or regulatory staff
- A minimum of three years of consulting experience and either a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law OR equivalent industry experience required. MBA or JD preferred
- Prior experience as an expert witness on regulation preferred but not required
- Practice development and strong leadership skills
- Strong client development skills and an active professional network of utility contacts, particularly in utility regulatory departments.
- Experience with program/project management methodology, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience, change management, strategic planning and analysis
- Mature business development, project management, and consulting skills; writing and presentation of business solutions
- Positive attitude, excellent customer communications skills and the ability to act on own initiative with a strong commitment to customer service
- A commitment to inclusion and diversity and openness to new ideas and perspectives
