Job Description:
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness using the appropriate protocol.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess patients' basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs and communicate findings to healthcare team members.
- Develop and use a specific plan of care and modify it to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.
- Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document the progression of treatment and teaching goals.
- Perform timely reassessment and documentation and engage in patient throughput and flow processes, planning for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate care.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions during an assigned shift, demonstrating stewardship in equipment and supplies use.
- Incorporate patient safety practices and guidelines to promote a safe environment, resulting in positive patient outcomes, while holding accountability for nursing research and quality improvement.
- Educate and train others on operational ethics and regulations, maintaining compliance with healthcare practices and activities.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and educate patients on the proper use of home medical equipment.
- Share experiences with processing medical orders and interpreting patient charts, fostering accuracy and safety in patient documentation and care.
