Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Specialty: Phlebotomy
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 1:30 PM - 9:30 PM, First to float, Every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 2 years
License: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPT II) license required
Certifications: BLS, Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) via AAH
Must-Have:
- Proficiency with Cerner required
- CPA certification required for drawing arterial blood gases
- Ability to draw blood from patients of all ages
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (e.g., Polytech, Avalon, Orchard Software, Apollo, Prolis, BioTracer, etc.)
Job Description:
- Perform phlebotomy in various hospital departments requiring blood draws
- Use a laptop with Cerner Pathways application for daily duties
- Adhere to a schedule set by the department; no self-scheduling or block scheduling allowed
- Work requires alternating weekends and holidays
- Wear red scrubs as part of the dress code
- Attend department-specific orientation
- May have up to four shifts canceled per 13-week assignment, or three shifts for shorter assignments, with potential for full hour compensation in lieu of cancellation
