Overview
DLH is looking for a Zero Trust Engineer/ Security Engineer with practical experience developing and implementing Zero Trust Architecture and controls in federal government enterprises to help support our client in Bethesda, MD.
In this role you will support the development and implementation of cybersecurity strategies, focusing on the principles of Zero Trust. You will review, analyze, and develop tailored controls for resource deployments and application development. You will help drive the implementation of enhanced detection capabilities and improved event analysis across a multiplatform enterprise environment. Outstanding communications skills are needed to brief a wide variety of audiences, including other cybersecurity personnel, developers, architects, and senior management. Leadership, initiative, and innovation are key traits for a successful candidate.

Basic Compensation: $155,000 - $160,000 yearly salary
The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates' skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards that may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. An applicant's salary history will not be used to determine compensation.

Responsibilities
- Integrate Zero Trust Architecture into existing and new systems by performing gap analyses and security maturity assessments, and recommending effective solutions or safeguards
- Collaborate with infrastructure, DevSecOps, application developers, and security teams to drive Zero Trust adoption and provide technical guidance on Zero Trust principles
- Operate various cyber security tools, such as Tenable Nessus, web application scanner, AV software, to identify risks and specific threat indicators
- Use Splunk query language to develop reports and dashboards to identify security control weakness or gaps or cybersecurity focused trends
- Use contextual analysis skills to review vulnerability results to determine false positive and false negative vulnerabilities from true security flaws or non-compliant security controls
- Develop professional written or visual communications documenting initiatives
- Stay current on emerging technologies, federal government security policies/standards and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 6+ years of focused enterprise cybersecurity experience, systems engineering or SIEM analysis or related fields
- In-depth knowledge of Zero Trust principles, foundations, pillars, frameworks, and implementation strategies
- Expert knowledge of infrastructure (on-prem, virtual and cloud), approved applications, continuous monitoring, and security frameworks
- Practical experience with cloud environments and services, containerization, and CI/CD pipeline
- Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, bash, python etc.)
- Expert knowledge of security requirements/regulations/standards, such as NIST SP 800-171, SP 800-53 , SP 800-37, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, FISMA, CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIG
- Experience with enterprise security architecture, including designing, building, and maintaining enterprise IT systems
- Hands-on experience with cloud security and identity management
- Proven problem-solving and innovation skills
- Ability to write and edit technical documentation, including reference architectures and implementation plans
- Related certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Azure security Engineer Associate, cloud architect for Azure, AWS, or Google, Forrester Zero Trust Strategy certification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or equivalent experience
