Organization's Summary Statement:
The Chief Technology Officer within the Intel community will lead the strategic direction for technology development in research and innovation. This role focuses on overseeing technical aspects of research, maintain high-quality standards, and ensuring the affective implementation of emerging technologies. The CTO is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the entire technological infrastructure, ensuring it supports cutting-edge research initiatives, academic operations, and administrative functions by strategically planning, implementing, and managing all aspects of technology across ARLIS.
The CTO oversees the quality and integration of its research and development (R&D) activities, and their communication of these R&D activities internally and externally. The CTO convenes technical reviews of programs and products with other members of the technical leadership team to ensure scientific rigor, reviews monthly deliverable and reports, and ensures integration of research across disciplines that fosters creative, multi-disciplinary problems-solving. The CTO provides strategic scientific and technical insight into opportunities for ARLIS and works with the Director of Strategic Program development to drive science and technology roadmaps and to communicate a coherent vision of ARLIS R&D to potential sponsors and users. The CTO also represents ARLIS in high level science/technical and user meeting, which include development of international R&D relationships.
Primary responsibilities:
Strategic Technology Vision and Innovation:
oDevelop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the ARLIS's research
priorities, including identifying emerging technologies that can enhance research capabilities.
oFoster a culture of innovation by exploring new technologies, pilot projects, and promoting the
adoption of emerging research tools.
oEnsure compliance with data governance and cybersecurity standards.
Research Infrastructure Management and Oversight:
oOversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced research computing
systems, high-performance computing clusters, data storage solutions, and specialized
research tools.
oProvide technical leadership for research projects, ensuring quality control and adherence to
industry standards.
oFoster collaborate between researchers, engineers, and industry partner to have technology
transfer and commercialization efforts
Innovation and Development:
oIdentify emerging technologies and trends that can advance research initiatives and enhance
education
oSpearhead the development of proprietary technologies ensuring they meet industry need Quality Assurance:
oMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of technology solutions and research methodologies.
oEstablish and enforce protocols for quality control in technology development and research
outputs.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
oBuild and maintain relationships with Intel and other industry partners to facilitate collaboration
of technology initiatives.
oEngage with stakeholders to drive research funding and resource acquisition.
Reporting and Analysis:
oPrepare and present regular reports on technology initiatives, research progress , and quality
metrics to executive director.
o Utilizes data analysis to inform strategic decisions and improvements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 10 years of experience within the intel community to lead the strategic direction of
technology development in research and innovation is required. Must have a strong
understanding of research methodologies and specific needs of different research disciplines to
effectively support cutting-edge research initiatives.
Experience in research computing, deep understanding of advanced computing technologies, i
including cloud computing, big data analytics, high-performance computing, and data
visualization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven experience in managing complex IT infrastructure and
large-scale technology projects within a research environment.
Strong leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on
fostering partnerships, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, administrators,
and technical staff.
Familiarity with research compliance requirements and data privacy regulations.
Knowledge of emerging technology trends and their application in research.
Proven experience in a technology leadership role, preferably in an academic, intel, and research
environment.
Strong understanding of research methodologies and quality control processes.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across disciplines.
Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you must meet the requirements
for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security clearance
investigation that includes criminal and credit history checks, as well as verification of U.S.
citizenship, birth, education, employment, and military history.
Preferences:
Experience working with Intel or similar technology companies.
Familiarity with grant writing and securing funding for research initiatives.
A track record of successful technology commercialization and innovation.
Physical Demands: Sedentary work performed in a normal office environment; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to attend meetings both on and off campus. Spending long hours in front of a computer screen.
