POSITION OVERVIEW

The Master Scheduler is responsible for the development and execution of a manufacturing/purchasing plan to assure product availability to meet customer demands and the company goals and objectives.

The Master Scheduler performs planning and scheduling functions involved with coordinating products and materials through various production phases. Reviews production schedules to determine materials and parts requirements to ensure materials are available according to schedules are in line with the overall goals and objectives of Operations.

Here is what you will do day-to-day
  • Develop, prepare for presentations and implement company policy and procedures regarding strategic and tactical scheduling concepts.
  • Regenerate and maintain a monthly Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet customer requirements to ensure inventory levels and production efficiencies.
  • Schedule, maintain and monitor a MPS line-item forecast model for soft-goods and hard-goods through a systematic and disciplined approach of planning.
  • Ensure that a high level of data integrity exists to support the daily Material Requirements Planning (MRP) regeneration.
  • Analyze production and inventory reports and present to management where critical decisions are made to ensure alignment with the department overall goals and objectives.
  • Work to resolve, (i.e. product and design related changes), labor and materials shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Ensure prompt communication of sales forecast, schedule changes or completion barriers to planning, purchasing, operations and customer service.
  • Analyze, organize, record, and publish regularly on a weekly and/or monthly graphs for planning and purchasing key performance metric indicators.
  • Analyze new product introduction and as a cross functional team member coordinate the materials implementation objectives.
  • Develop and attain appropriate targets which improve inventory efficiencies.
  • Meet production schedules that are in line with the short and long term goals, allowing other Production entities to meet their goals and objectives.
  • Train and instruct other members of the department and the company, by passing along skills and information to assist and able to motivate others when needed and assist them in their development and advancement either with one-on-one or with platform training skills.


  • Become an independent employee able to analyze problems and formulate plans to overcome challenges and to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality. Make sound and logical decisions and choose the appropriate courses of action based on the parameters of the situation at hand and to use continual improvement problem solving skills.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI's internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

What you will need to be successful in this role:
  • Experience and education - as outlined below, per job level.
  • Strong planning background in the materials, manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language. Communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner. Excellent communication, strong presentation, project and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and accomplish smart objectives or goals independently and to function as a positive and productive team member.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of flexibility and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • A demonstrated background in low volume and high mix manufacturing.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of LEAN planning and KanBan manufacturing.
  • A demonstrated background in working with commercial groups, (i.e. Sales Ops, Sales, Service and Marketing)
  • Excellent knowledge of a computerized MRP system, knowledge of SAP system is a plus.
  • Ability to be accurate, detail-oriented, and to remain calm in stressful situations. Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions, create and reconcile reports, demonstrate strong analytical, mathematical, statistical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers, various office equipment and machines, and telephone system. Knowledge and the ability to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature; to be able to modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding, and the regular use of a time management process, which systematically structures one's own work to provide for effective task performance and to plan and prioritize items to meet future demands.
