Position Full Time
Reporting This position reports to the Plant Manager
Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Manager
Overall Purpose
This position is responsible for leading the Maintenance Department, in continuing to improve asset information systems, processes, and supporting tools. This position is also responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quantity and quality. All of which is to be done while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.
Specific Accountabilities
Supervise directly the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance by communicating expectations, monitoring performance, and taking corrective actions to address issues
Supervise and manage plant maintenance personnel ensuring they are adequately trained and equipped to complete maintenance projects in a safe, competent, and timely manner.
Plan, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance and repair of plant machines, equipment, buildings, land, road areas, and services to company and legislative standards to meet production schedules, operating costs, safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
Plan and drive predictive and preventative maintenance actions for all plant assets; drive accountability to the maintenance team
Provide technical support for production processes and projects
Develop and improve the Maintenance work order system
Implement and sustain TPM process deployment and development
Build a robust continuous improvement environment and keep abreast of changing technologies and implement proactively, as required based on sound business ROI.
Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate maintenance activities with production and outside contractors.
Communicate maintenance issues regularly with all maintenance personnel, both individually and as a group.
Maintain a complete, detailed, organized and accurate set of project records, forms, templates, procedures, guides, and associated communications and ensure that all records meet legislative requirements
Manage obligations in a structured, visible, and auditable way utilizing internal systems, team, and subcontractors where appropriate
Ensures that contracted utilities services meet specified results by inspecting the worked performed and directing corrective action as necessary
Work closely with external bodies and regulatory commissions to maintain project regulatory compliance
Coordinate maintenance activities with production and outside contractors
Communicate maintenance issues regularly with all maintenance personnel, both individually and as a group
Participate in objective budgeting and plan development to improve plant performance.
Develop and implement projects that improve plant efficiency and/or reducing costs.
Tack and analyze data to improve key maintenance measurables such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, etc.
Monitor and record the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment.
Maintain and update operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
Maintain records and ensure legislative requirements relating to the maintenance department and plant equipment are in compliance at all times.
Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
Establish and maintain good employee relations, build team morale, discipline for cause, ensure correct administration of Union Contract, and resolve first steps grievances in just and fair manner for maintenance personnel.
Ensure the maintenance department will adhere to and comply with all company policies and Government regulations ensure a safe workplace.
Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and policy
Performs all duties as assigned in accordance with and adherence to the ISO9001
Quality System Standards
Perform Daily /Shift meetings with hourly employees and supervisors as part of the
Company Kaizen Methodology (5S, OEE, SCRA, Lean, etc.)
Make decisions based on Consistency and Lean Methodologies
Position Requirements and Qualifications
Degree in , Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Journeyman Tradesperson in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
5+ years leadership, supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced unionized Manufacturing environment.
Strong skills in industrial trades-electrical applications, mechanical, PLC/knowledge of instrumentation
Working knowledge of processing equipment, material handling, and plant/facility operation systems.
Strong PC skills- MS Office applications
Expertise and experience in but not limited to Metal Forming, Blanking, Paint, Paint Prep/Blast, Robotics, pneumatic. Experience with heat treat/quenching is an asset.
Proven understanding and experience with financial processes including budgeting
SMED and optimizing changeover processes
Lean implementation for key physical assets to ensure / maximize uptime
Ability to maintain confidentiality with company information and processes
Confident, motivated, flexible, with a proactive approach
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in an organized, detailed manner, given limited timeframes
