As our Freelance Senior Marketing Automation Strategist, you'll be the architect of powerful, data-driven campaigns that make an impact. You'll leverage your deep expertise to craft complex customer journeys, create sophisticated workflows, and implement email strategies that ensure every touchpoint engages and converts.

You'll work closely with both internal teams and clients to develop automation strategies that not only support business growth but also enhance the overall customer experience. Key Responsibilities:

Email Marketing Automation Strategy & Leadership
  • Lead the development and execution of sophisticated email marketing strategies that align with business goals, focusing on customer acquisition, retention, and nurturing.
  • Develop high-level email marketing strategies, from audience segmentation to lifecycle campaigns, to enhance engagement and drive conversion.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of complex customer journeys and automated workflows.
  • Act as the primary consultant for clients on best practices for marketing automation and email strategy.

CRM & Marketing Automation Platform Management
  • Manage and optimize the Moontide marketing automation platform (SharpSpring or equivalent), ensuring smooth integrations with other platforms (CRM, eCommerce, etc.).
  • Lead the setup of advanced workflows and automation processes to deliver personalized customer experiences.
  • Provide guidance on integrating marketing automation across multiple channels and tools.

Advanced Data & Performance Optimization
  • Continuously analyze, track, and optimize the performance of email campaigns and automation workflows using data insights.
  • Develop and execute testing strategies for email campaigns to improve engagement, deliverability, and conversions.
  • Ensure high levels of data hygiene, implementing strategies for list segmentation and suppression management, and maintaining CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Present actionable performance reports to clients and internal teams, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

Collaboration & Strategic Input
  • Work closely with internal teams (creative, content, and paid media) to ensure cohesive strategies and creative execution across email and other digital marketing channels.
  • Proactively recommend improvements and process optimizations to increase efficiency, scale campaigns, and drive results.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members (if applicable) in marketing automation best practices, providing guidance on implementation and strategy.

Client-facing & Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their goals, challenges, and needs, and develop tailored marketing automation strategies.
  • Present and communicate strategies, results, and optimizations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in email marketing automation, with a focus on strategy and high-level campaign management.
  • Expertise in working with marketing automation platforms (SharpSpring, Pardot, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Deep knowledge of CRM systems and their integration with marketing automation platforms.
  • Strong experience with CAN-SPAM compliance, data management, and email best practices.
  • Advanced understanding of customer journey mapping, lead nurturing, and email segmentation.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics, interpret data, and make strategic recommendations based on insights.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex strategies for various audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in automation platforms.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and highly organized, with a passion for staying ahead of industry trends and technology.
