Department Overview
The Claims department investigates and resolves third party claims submitted to PG&E for property damage, bodily injury, and business interruption. We have a customer focused claims process that is consistent with our fiduciary duties and reflects our corporate values. Our team provides a valuable service to PG&E by conducting comprehensive investigations, appropriately resolving claims and remaining customer focused in potentially adversarial situations.
Position Summary
The Claims Investigator, Senior performs complex incident and claim investigations. The Claims Investigator utilizes industry knowledge, experience with claims management and negotiations skills to conducting detailed investigations, to appropriately resolve claim matters while sustaining customer focus within potentially adversarial situations.
The Claims Investigator must be able and willing to work extended hours, weekends, and be on call for emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
This position requires frequent travel to PG&E offices, facilities, sites, and locations for emergency incident responses, meetings with employees and third parties, and site investigations.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $90,000
California Maximum: $136,000
Job Responsibilities
Performs investigations, negotiations, and settlements of third party property damage and personal injury claims.
Obtains statements and performs interviews of involved parties as needed to appropriately investigate incidents.
Prepares factual and liability investigation memos on CPUC reportable incidents.
Identifies, collects, completes chain of custody, logs and appropriately stores evidence as needed for investigation purposes.
Facilitates claims data analysis projects for trending and lessons learned. Presents relevant analysis to business partners as needed.
Collaborates with PG&E's LOB partners to address customer issues in a customer focused manner.
Research, collect and review internal and external records as needed to appropriately investigate and resolve claims.
Collaborates with PG&E's lines of business (LOB) to develop strategies and recommendations to mitigate claims and incidents.
Provides advice, consultation, and support to PG&E attorneys and clients.
Investigates and reports claims and incidents for fraud, misrepresentation, and/or malice intent.
May provide training, guidance, and instruction to lower job level claims investigators.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Experience as Claims Investigator, 5 years
CA Class C License, or equivalent
Record of Clean Driving
Desired:
Six (6) years of experience as a Claims Investigator or related experience
Experience investigating and/or administering bodily injury, property damage, and insurance claims and litigation
Utility industry experience
