Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Real Time Trader is accountable for executing the commercial strategy in real-time with respect to both electricity and gas market aspects of the Atura Power fleet. Additional projects will be assigned during non-shift working days.

Job Description
Executing the commercial market aspects of the Atura Power business in accordance with approved policies, budgets and business plans, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
The successful candidate will learn the following skills & expertise:
Electricity
Understanding of the Ontario Electricity Market administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), from the perspective of a power generator, including the following aspects:
o Market participation through offering, scheduling, and dispatch
o IESO market rules
o Communication protocols with the IESO
o Settlements of IESO market and contract revenues and production
Understanding of the operation of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) type power plants fuelled by natural gas
Gas
Understanding of the natural gas market in Ontario, from the perspective of gas fired generators, including the following aspects:
o Purchase and sale of large quantities of natural gas on a daily basis, including deal capture and settlements with NGX and gas suppliers
o Assessment of new and existing gas services provided by Union Gas, TCPL, and Enbridge Gas Distribution for the management of gas deliveries and imbalances
o Scheduling and nomination of gas deliveries along pipelines operated by Union Gas, TCPL, and Enbridge Gas Distribution
o Scheduling and nomination of gas into and out of storage and balancing accounts to manage supply and consumption
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or relevant field, or have equivalent experience
Experience or keen interest in electricity and/or gas markets
Strong business and commercial acumen
Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and software tools to support commercial activities (VBA, SQL)
Analytical and proven problem-solving skills
Excellent general computer and technology skills to quickly learn and utilize various software and web-based applications necessary for interaction with gas and electricity markets
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented
This role requires shift rotation consisting of off-business hours (evenings, nights, and weekend) shifts. Expected shift schedule will be determined and communicated to candidates before candidates are selected.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Salary range $85,000 - $105,000
Annual performance incentive targeted at 12.5% of base wages
RRSP contributions, defined benefit pension options
Vacation 3 weeks (120 hours)
Flex Days 4 days (32 hours)

Job Description
Executing the commercial market aspects of the Atura Power business in accordance with approved policies, budgets and business plans, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Offering of available generating capacity into the IESO market, subject to plant operating and dispatch constraints and market conditions, interacting closely with operating and maintenance staff;
- Purchase and sale of large quantities of natural gas to fuel the facilities;
- Managing the delivery and balancing of natural gas supply using a suite of available transportation, distribution, storage, and balancing services;
- Working closely with plant operations and maintenance departments on all aspects of commercial operations and on coordination of dispatch activity;
- Providing real-time market analysis to assist in the development of daily and longer-term asset optimization strategies;
- Ensuring full compliance with IESO market rules, regulatory requirements, and risk policies;
- Interfacing with IESO to manage market rules and regulatory compliance, settlements verification and participation in IESO stakeholder events;
- Maintain daily logs to ensure gas and power commercial activities in relation to IESO contract obligations and the electricity market are documented and correct;
- Maintaining safe and responsible work habits and enjoy working in a close-knit team;
- Participation in and support of various projects to facilitate commercial operations including spreadsheet and software tool development and performing analysis; and
- Being a member of a larger team, participating in overall plants safety initiatives and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
