As a Claims Manager, you will manage Property and Casualty claims from initial assignment to resolution directly and supervise various Third-Party Administrators or outside counsel, as applicable, while supporting various administrative functions across multiple liability lines of business under the guidance of the Director of Risk Management. This also includes overseeing complex litigated Workers' Compensation claims as needed, in collaboration with the Assistant Risk Manager. By managing intricate insurance claims with responsibility and ethical practices, you will significantly impact the organization and ensure the highest claims management and resolution standards.

Job Description

CLAIMS MANAGEMENT AND LITIGATION

Manage all Auto and General Liability claims from start to finish, ensuring compliance with regulations. You will have strong multistate claims experience and an interest to handle international claims.

Manage high-exposure litigation, providing case management, tactical guidance, and budgeting.

Review coverage and assess exposure to the company, advising on claim strategies.

Approve reserves and settlements within authority limits, escalating complex cases to the Director and the VP of Risk Management.

Direct and guide Third-party Administrators (TPAs) on claims handling and reporting following department guidelines.

Evaluate and negotiate claim settlements, focusing on cost-effective resolutions within your authority.

Handle all phases of claims litigation, including mediation, settlement conferences, and trials.

Collaborate with outside counsel on discovery, ensuring all necessary data is gathered from internal stakeholders to support claim management and litigation efforts.

Learn, interpret, and apply specific rules, laws, and policies.

DATA ANALYRSIS AND REPORTING

Analyze claims data to identify trends and areas for process improvement.

Analyze coverage issues, and create detailed reports on claims performance and costs.

Use data analytics and benchmarking to evaluate loss trends and cost of risk, developing actionable metrics aligned with business priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience with insurance with at least 10 years of experience in property and casualty claims adjusting is required.

Experience providing legal guidance and advice on property and liability matters.

Paralegal training, legal education, or insurance certifications are highly-desirable.

Insurance adjuster license in at least one jurisdiction.

In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and property/liability insurance coverage.

Legal statutes and civil procedures related to civil liability.

Claims adjusting (including litigation management), claim valuation, and managing claims from initial report to settlement or closure.

Contract review (insurance and indemnification language).

Prior supervisory experience.

Conduct complex investigations.

Build credibility and rapport with all business associates.

Organize, develop, and prepare claims for assignment to counsel, trial, and pre-trial conferences.

Develop and present well-thought-out reports, analyses, and communications.

Analyze situations and adopt effective courses of action independently or with direction.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $96,000 to $144,000 + cash incentive. Actual salary offer may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
