Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Radiology
Job Duration: 12 months
Shift: 07:00 AM - 03:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with on-call shifts after hours and weekends (50% on-call sharing every other weekend)
Guaranteed Hours: Not specified
Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent radiology and CT experience in a hospital setting
License: Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA) certification
Certifications: ARRT certification in Radiology & CT Tech, BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Must-Have:
- Experience with Siemens Somatom Emotion 6-slice and portable x-ray machine, Mobile Dart and GE
- Strong understanding of radiologic procedures in a hospital context
Job Description:
- Perform diagnostic CT exams using appropriate imaging equipment under general supervision, following established policies and procedures.
- Verify patient identity and review medical records for exam or procedure appropriateness.
- Interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history, and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy, and psychological indicators.
- Explain procedures to patients, including potential side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up care.
- Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script.
- Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to the radiologist.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Provide physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
- Participate in process improvement activities within the radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
- Provide imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees.
- Available for on-call/standby duties as required by the department.
- May perform duties of a Radiologic Technologist as needed.
