We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer to join our team and deliver high-quality I&C designs for water and wastewater projects in the Midwest. This position offers the flexibility to work from one of several Midwest office locations, with potential for remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop I&C system designs for the water and wastewater industry, including potential Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and configuration.
- Prepare technical memoranda, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system architecture drawings, installation details, instrumentation and control system specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve contractor documentation, conduct factory testing, field acceptance testing, and oversee startup of I&C systems.
- Utilize or learn AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D to create and manage project designs.
- Serve as the Lead I&C Systems Engineer on projects, supervising and mentoring entry-level staff and designers.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineers across disciplines to ensure project success.
- 10-20 years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls Design; candidates with more or less experience will also be considered.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
- Experience with AutoCAD or willingness to learn.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for effective coordination across disciplines.
- Electrical design experience is preferred.
- Experience or capability in control system software configuration and programming is a plus.
