SUMMARY:
The Surgery Nurse Director is responsible for the development, supervision and coordination of all surgical services. Ensures the effective communication of up-to-date information within the department and across departments to encourage teamwork and safe patient transitions and handoffs. Provides supervision of personnel and oversight of daily operations of surgery. Hold team members accountable for consistent delivery of compassionate and exceptional patient care and service excellence through performance, quality and behavior standards and expectations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required, MSN preferred.
Licensure: Current Arkansas or Compact State RN license in good standing.
Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in direct patient care in the operating room setting required. Previous charge nurse and/or leadership experience required. Previous experience in operating room setting preferred.
Certifications: BLS required. CNOR preferred.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to regularly stand and walk, occasionally bend, squat and twist, and occasionally lift 50 pounds or more of equipment. Able to occasionally push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment. Occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Must possess a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity with or without correction to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases. May have to function around prisoners or mental patients. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.

Hospital operating room, Central Sterile area, Pre-Op, PACU and office type setting.

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 24/7 responsibility is required. May be required to work holidays and during inclement weather.
