Description

Springfield College invites applications for a Sr. Associate Director or Director of Disability & Accessibility Services. Title and salary will be commensurate with previous and current experience. This position works as a leader serving students with documented disabilities, including academic, non-academic, temporary, and concussion accommodations. The Sr. Associate Director or Director oversees and manages a team of professionals solely dedicated to disability and accessibility services at the College. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Advising and Student Success, this position supports the needs of Disability and Accessibility Services including student services, staffing, promotion, budgeting, communications, goal setting and planning; works closely with colleagues in academic support services, academic advising, residence life, campus life and inclusion, financial aid, and technology solutions.
Responsibilities

Process all services and maintain expert knowledge of the American Disabilities Act as it relates to student services and in accordance with the Association of Higher Education and Disabilities (AHEAD) guidelines.
Evaluate student diagnostic reports to determine accommodations.
Manage direct student support services related directly to students such as academic coaching, and case management.
Serve as the College's point person for all student issues related to disability and ADA compliance.
Review and interpret complex student documentation, including medical and educational documentation to ensure students qualify for reasonable and appropriate accommodations and services.
Maintain specialized knowledge of various disabilities and how they affect learning as well as understanding of federal and state law as pertaining to these issues.
Actively resolve any issues of compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, as well as with College policy, that concerns students with documented disabilities.
Serveastheliaisontocollegeadministratorstoensurecompliancewithfederal,state,andinstitutionalregulations, inclusive of ADA compliance and institutional practices.
Supervise the Disability and Accessibility Services team under the department of Advising and Student Success, includingprofessionalstaff,notetakers,graduateassistant,andrelationshipswithapplicablevendorslikeinterpreter services. Lead with a student-centered approach while maintaining a balance of student services, academic integrity, and standards set forth by Association of Higher Education and Disabilities (AHEAD).
Ensure appropriate resources and services are available for students with documented disabilities such as Academic Coaching, Testing Accommodations, Assistive Technology Training and Support, Accessible Materials, Equipment Loans, Notetakers/Scribes/Readers,TransitionalSupports,AdvocacyandAccommodationPlanning,andOrientationto Disability & Accessibility Services.
Monitor budget and resource allocation of the labor budget for interpreting services and other expenditures concerning required labor to support students with documented disabilities.
Researches and recommends specific purchases to support the needs of students with documented disabilities.
Maintain and update systems (AIM) for gathering data and documentation of student usage of Disability & Accessibility Services.
Maintain confidential records of all registered students and other sensitive student documentation.
WriteannualreportsofstudentusageofDisability&AccessibilityServicesdetailingwhichspecific services were utilized.
DevelopandimplementprogramstopromoteandeducatethecampuscommunityaboutDisability&Accessibility Services in a variety of venues, including but not limited to open houses, orientation, department meetings, and student associations. Provide necessary training for students, faculty and staff relative to disability needs and issues.
Qualifications

Master's degree required in Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Higher Education, Student Affairs or related discipline with 3-5 years of work-related experienced.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of psycho-educational diagnostic evaluations and data.
Experienceindesigning,implementingandmonitoringsupportservicesforpostsecondarystudentswithdisabilities.
Knowledge of academic coaching, assistive technology, accessibility issues, and training.
Experience supervising staff.
