Purpose

To plan, organize, integrate, and oversee the Airport's concessions program for all concessions, including but not limited to food & beverage, retail, advertising, rental car, passenger services, and vending.
Major Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee concession program including but not limited to rental car, advertising, ATMs, food & beverage, and retail.
  • Develop and implement concession concepts ensuring service to the traveling public.
  • Work with vendors to ensure quality products and services.
  • Participate in the investigation, mediation, and resolution of concession-related inquiries/complaints.
  • Ensure contract compliance; conduct routine inspections and periodic quality control checks; communicate discrepancies; and impose corrective action including contract-mandated sanctions for violations.
  • Work with P&C Manager and Legal on drafting appropriate documents for modifications to concession agreements.
  • Oversee initial and mid-term investments outlined in contracts.
  • Review and correspond with concessionaires and tenants' A/P billing and aging account.
  • Monitor concessionaires' monthly sales and transaction activity. Review monthly revenue recaps for accuracy.
  • Monitor accounts, the concession minimum annual guarantee (MAG), annual concession fee (ACF), bond, and insurance requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct tenant inspections and generate reports and follow-up correspondence.
  • Update, verify, and maintain contacts, terms, and other agreement details in the database. Utilize the database to track changes in tenant lease space adjustments.
  • Collect and analyze internal and external data to generate reports and presentations.
  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) development and issuance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field. Preference for degree in Hospitality or Business Administration.
  • Two years related experience. Strongly prefer concession management experience.
  • A combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position will be considered.

  • Be of good moral character and able to adhere to professional ethical standards of conduct as a public employee working in the public administration and operation of airports.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Job functions require sitting for extended periods with intermittent walking and standing; also involves stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, and reaching occasionally.
  • Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding and use of office equipment.
  • Ability to perform close work to file, read and use computer required.
  • Ability to continuously exchange information through listening and talking with customers, coworkers, representatives of community organizations and other individuals required.
  • Ability to be mobile community wide for business needs as required.

Security:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport security badge as a condition of employment.

WORKING CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
  • Regular contact with management, co-workers, tenants, vendors, concessionaires, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, ENVIRONMENT AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS:
  • Work is primarily in an office setting and within the Airport terminal. Some travel on the Airport and in the local area. Occasional exposure to aircraft noise and fumes.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIRED:
  • Vehicle, personal computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, multi-line telephone system, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

Spokane Airport provides a generous benefit package. Currently, we cover employee at 100% and dependents at 90% of the premium cost. We offer four plan choices for medical coverage (includes vision) through Kaiser Permanente. The Airport contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) for high deductible plans and a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) for the other plans. Dental coverage is through MetLife. Additionally, the Airport provides life insurance at two times the annual salary. Optional life insurance is also available. Short term and long term disability is also provided by the Airport. Retirement is through the Washington State Department of Retirement System - PERS Plan. The Airport provides an employee assistance program through BHO, and an employee wellness program. Parking is provided.

The Airport recognizes 11 holidays. Vacation is earned at eight (8) hours a month for the first five (5) years and increases every five (5) years. Sick leave accrues at eight (8) hours a month. The Airport also provides military and jury leave.
