ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Program Management: Oversee and manage early childhood special education programs, ensuring effective delivery of services to exceptional students.
- Staff Supervision: Provide support related service to special education and general education early childhood educators, ensuring high-quality instruction and services are delivered.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations for special education services, including adherence to policies and procedures.
- Resource Management: Manage the inventory, distribution, and maintenance of educational materials and equipment for special education programs.
- Collaboration & Communication: Establish and maintain open and positive lines of communication with staff, parents, district and community members to address concerns related to early childhood special education.
- Program Evaluation & Support: Regularly evaluate the implementation of special education services, identify areas for improvement, and provide support and guidance to staff in problem-solving and professional development.
- Policy & Procedure Implementation: Implement district-wide policies, procedures, and guidelines for early childhood special education programs and services.
- Training & Professional Development: Collaborate to plan and implement professional development activities and in-service training for early childhood special education staff, with a focus on instructional strategies, best practices, and legal compliance.
- Support for Families: Provide resources and support to families of exceptional students, assisting with concerns and advocating for the needs of students.
- Data & Reporting: Research, compile, and analyze data related to the effectiveness of programs and services, preparing reports and recommendations for the Executive Director of Early Childhood.
- Project Management: Lead and manage special projects as assigned by the Executive Director, contributing to the development and enhancement of early childhood special education programs.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid New Mexico Administrative License.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Spedial Education
- NM Special Education License or other closely related field
- Seven years of experience providing direct services to students with special needs.
- Management and leadership skills.
- Facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experienced with IDEA as well as state regulations.
- Proficient with word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
