We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Estimator with expertise in conveyor systems to join our dynamic customer in Novi, MI. This role offers a hybrid work environment and the opportunity to engage with innovative projects in the automotive manufacturing sector. As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing and estimating the costs of electrical and control systems for a variety of material handling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed estimation for material handling systems, including Electrified Monorail Systems (EMS), Power & Free conveyors, Skillet conveyors, Slat Chain conveyors, Vertical Lifts, and Parts Carriers.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for electrical and control components, integrating these with overall system costs.
- Collaborate in the design and development of new conveyor systems and equipment, ensuring standard cost evaluations align with project objectives.
- Identify and define electrical components for control systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
- Support the development of bid proposals and communicate effectively with sales and technical service teams.
- Engage with customer engineers to gather requirements and translate these into functional specifications.
- Research and propose cost-effective material handling solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Deliver technical presentations and participate in pre-bid site visits as necessary.
- Contribute to supplier assessments and sourcing decisions.
- Available to work overtime and travel as project deadlines and requirements dictate.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in system design and implementation within an industrial or manufacturing environment; automotive experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Rockwell PLC and HMI components; experience with other systems like Mitsubishi, Omron, GE, and Siemens is advantageous.
- Understanding of industrial control systems and experience with material handling equipment.
- Proven skills in estimating costs for electrical and controls segments of material handling systems.
- Experience with engineering studies to develop optimal systems based on automotive customer requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Familiarity with electrical standards including the National Electric Code, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA 79, and UL508A.
- Experience with automotive customer specifications and effective communication skills for regular client updates.
- Ability to write hardware specifications and manage multiple tasks with advanced organizational skills.
- BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
