The North America Professional Development team is seeking a PD Manager based in our Ohio, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Chicago locations. This role will be responsible for managing a full range of professional development and staffing activities for a group of consultants across these offices. This is done in collaboration with the local partner group and the PD team, as well as the full North American Professional Development community.

The ideal candidate will bring an understanding of the value created by professional development strategies, an ability to help develop and execute these strategies, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for helping our talent grow and thrive. Applicants for this role must be located within a reasonable, daily commute from one of the Ohio, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Chicago offices to enable regular in-person leadership and apprenticeship.

Your Impact

In this role, you will build strong relationships with partners, associate partners, and a broad range of client-facing colleagues; help enable decision making on both tactical (e.g., effective and efficient client team formation) and strategic (e.g., longer term strategy and people pipeline / initiatives) levels; and develop and coach individuals to facilitate their professional development. Professional Development colleagues work with each consultant to build a trust-based relationship, which includes an in-depth understanding of professional aspirations, experiences, strengths, development needs, and relevant personal circumstances.

You will support other people and PD priorities as needed and collaborate across a number of NA-based PD teams.

You will manage the evaluation and feedback process, including the review and evaluation processes (e.g., semi-annual reviews, upward feedback systems, candidate diligence, post-engagement feedback) in close cooperation with the respective review committee chairs and leadership.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Undergraduate degree; MBA or other professional degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a professional services firm
  • Strong interest and experience in professional development and people issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated track record of strong performance and contribution to and leadership in high performing teams
  • Good project management skills to lead and structure thinking and work
  • Ability to adhere to the highest professional and process standards and stand firm on decisions
  • Ability to work under pressure and conflicting circumstances
  • Strong integrity, maturity and fairness in dealing with people and confidential information
