Our EMI team in Atlanta, GA is always looking for great talent and especially people who enjoy solving difficult problems in a creative way. Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure (EMI) applies engineering mechanics, materials science, numerical simulation, innovative technologies, and collective expertise to solve our clients' toughest problems in an inspiring work environment that nurtures life-long learning and growth. A successful candidate for EMI may work on design, analysis, licensing/regulatory, and research projects related to buildings, bridges, pipelines, nuclear facilities, tanks, rail vehicles, rotating equipment, precision observatory structures, and other non-building critical infrastructure systems.
Location: Washington, DC or Atlanta, GA. The position may be based in either location but will report to the Senior Principal in the Atlanta, GA office.

SGH has an opening for a Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Senior Technical Manager (STM). This is an experienced technical manager, leadership-track, and shareholder position with responsibilities generally consistent with ASCE Grade V and will include the following:

SPMs apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. SPMs make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and they represent the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. Requires the use of advance techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of sciences and disciplines. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work results from progressive experience.

Anticipated annual base salary: $135,200 - $178,880. This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to applicable equal pay and pay transparency laws. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including the candidate's experience, qualifications and work location.
Base salary is a part of SGH's industry leading Total Compensation package. Our Total Compensation package includes base salary, pay for extra hours worked, an annual discretionary bonus program, generous paid time off, and health and wellness benefits with a special emphasis on substantial SGH contributions to medical insurance premiums and SGH's Profit Sharing & 401(k) Plan.

What you'll be doing:
SGH has an opening for a Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Senior Technical Manager (STM). This is an experienced technical manager, leadership-track, and shareholder position with responsibilities generally consistent with ASCE Grade V and will include the following:
- In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large and important engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features.
- Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments.
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small staff of engineers and technicians, estimates workforce needs and schedules, and assigns work to meet completion date.
- Able to work with a degree of independence such that approach, results, and judgments are subject to a final review by the Principal-in-Charge without major rework.
- Proven ability to prepare major reports.
- In consultation with the Principal-in-Charge, develops project scope and budget, and successfully manages to time, quality, budget, and schedule goals.
- Able to prepare proposals for complex assignments.
- Deals directly with clients.
- Able to apply knowledge of risk management and contract negotiation procedures.
What You'll Need:

- 8+ years of relevant civil engineering experience or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Professional licensure required.
- MS or PhD with a concentration in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET- accredited university.
- Excellent personal qualities, especially ethics and honesty. Gets along well with others and provides enthusiastic help and support when appropriate.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
